Ron Bakir’s Choices for 2014 World Cup Soccer
Ron Bakir is an avid sports fanatic, having a long-standing love and appreciation for Australian and Lebanese football. Growing up in Lebanon, Ron recalls kicking a tattered ball around his backyard with his friends, and his love of soccer has grown from then. While he feels that he was never quite talented enough to play professionally, Ron Bakir has always had a soft spot for soccer. For the 2010 World Cup, Ron mediated valuable sponsorship deals to try to help the Lebanese team to South Africa for the finals. Despite the financial aid, the Lebanese team did not perform as well as Ron expected, and were taken out of the running. This is where Ron Bakir focused his attention to the Australian team and helped run a campaign to gather support for them, which was successful as his media knowledge and communications business experience helped with the promotional efforts.
Through his passion for soccer and marketing efforts, Ron Bakir enabled more people to be able to watch the matches on a local scale, and raised awareness of the World Cup soccer on a national scale. Ron Bakir managed to play a small but valuable part in helping to keep soccer popular in Australia.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup will feature 32 teams, with one place already allocated to the hosts, Brazil. It will be a battle for every country to qualify and take one of the remaining 31 places. Self-made entrepreneur Ron Bakir hopes that 2014 will be the year that Lebanon qualifies for the World Cup, a feat they have never managed to accomplish. Ron Bakir has high hopes for the Australian soccer team, who managed to place 21 in the post-tournament team ranking by FIFA.
Ron Bakir is excited for the 2014 World Cup Soccer and can’t wait to watch his favourite sport on television.
